Dear Parents, Carers, Schools, LAs,
Thank you for the interest you have shown in Alternative Centre of education.
Alternative Centre of Education (ACE) is an Independent alternative provision based in Edmonton, North London. We specifically cater for secondary age students with a range of varying and additional needs which impact on their everyday learning. Many of our current students thrive in a smaller setting where they can feel very well supported during every step of their journey. We offer an individualised curriculum suited to the needs of our pupils. ACE aims to provide an education for young people age 11 – 16 who are at risk of permanent exclusion, are school refuses or those who just find it difficult to manage within a mainstream setting due to variety of social and emotional issues.
We work closely with local schools, local authorities and the special educational needs departments in Enfield, Haringey and Barnet. Many of our learners are with us on a long-term basis. However, we do have several students who require additional support for a shorter period of time before being successfully reintegrated into mainstream school. Our pupils study a range of subjects both in KS3 and in KS4, with an emphasis on reading, literacy and numeracy skills.
At ACE, our young people experience a supportive and friendly environment. We have high expectations when it comes to behaviour and our young people are taught to have high standards of self-discipline in order to maintain a safe environment for all. All young people are encouraged to strive for excellence. Our young people are supported by an experienced team of Mentors who work with them daily to help them overcome any barriers or obstacles they may be facing.
ACE offers personalised learning programmes with classes having up to eight young people. We aim to remove the barriers to learning experienced by young people so that they can feel safe, confident and happy to attend school daily. The ethos is to encourage an atmosphere of tolerance and respect and to create an environment that is conducive to learning and free from unacceptable risk.
The staff at ACE are outstanding with much enthusiasm and energy. The staff have high standards and are prepared to go that extra mile to ensure the success of our students. We are committed to the success of our young people, educationally, morally and socially.
We aim to empower young people equipping them with the skills to overcome any barriers to learning allowing them to re-engage with their education. ACE gives young people the opportunity to develop the resilience and confidence they need to be successful. We offer a mainstream school curriculum in a smaller setting.
If you would like to visit the school, please call us on 02087935302 to make an appointment.
